Dark Stag have a close network of expert barbers the world over from years of creating and supplying professional tools. This means we were able to work very closely with a large team of barbers to assist in creating and refining the products until they meet and exceed the day to day needs in the barber shop. We told our barbers to be brutally honest with their feedback - and they were! This resulted in ruthless testing and many iterations of careful improvements before we arrived at the final products: professional specification products, based on real barber feedback from day to day use in the barber shop.

In life it is a good ethos to do the simple things well. We didn’t want the Dark Stag name on an endless array of slightly different confusingly named products. We wanted to distill it right down to a strong foundation of essentials - and then absolutely nail them. At launch there are 4 core products covering most barbershop styling requirements. Matte Clay, Light Shine Pomade, Sea Salt Spray, and a Styling Powder.

Yes - and not only that, we were insistent that absolutely nothing that goes into the final product is tested on animals. So our products are 100% Cruelty Free, Not Tested on Animals, and Suitable for Vegans.

Guided by expert barber feedback, we carefully developed formulas that are water soluble which means not only do clients get easy wash-out, but it comes off barbers hands more easily too. Hair with product build-up can be thoroughly cleansed by washing with warm water and shampoo, followed with conditioner to restore moisture to the hair, as normal.

Like every single element of each product, we obsessed over scent. Barbers told us that many client sales happen due to the smell of products, so we took a deep dive into the world of fragrance and considered a broad range of client and barber tastes to arrive at a starting point of more than 30 different options. We then used hard data to guide the selection process, eventually arriving at a golden sweet spot of the most appealing fragrances with maximum client impact. -Matte Clay features an addictive fresh coconut smell unlike any other -Light Shine Pomade is scented with a unique and masculine Black Pomegranate -Sea Salt Spray smells like a summers day at the beach -Styling Powder is unfragranced due to almost unanimous barber feedback

Our Sea Salt Spray provides a rough and ready look or a foundation for finishing touches with gritty texture and boosted volume. It can be used to prepare or enhance styles like modern mullets, mid length textured styles, long hair, or to refresh curls of any length. Spritz and blow dry or leave to air dry for a back-from-the-beach finish. It instantly powers all hair types beyond a just-shampooed state with a light but lasting hold. Can also be used in combination with other products as a primer EG - used before adding definition with our Matte Clay.

Styling powder is a innovative product that offers exceptional control when styling. It does this by optimizing distribution over hair with the use of particles and allowing product to be built up carefully by adding more product when required. It provides weightless volume with a matte finish for reliable and controllable hold with enhanced texture. We developed a reworkable formula that allows detailed restyling for the perfect finish. Ideal for many short to medium length textured styles.

Our Matte clay is designed to provide a medium/strong natural no-shine look for short and medium hair styles with more texture, such as a modern textured quiff. Our Light Shine Pomade is perfect for sleeker traditional styles and simple structures with less texture that often benefit from additional shine: EG slickbacks or side parts

Our products are best stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Once open, if stored in optimum conditions, our products should last for a minimum of 12 months - please see product packaging for more information.
