WitchFades Hair Pattern Tutorial

One of our ambassadors, WitchFades, shows us how to cut patterns into hair!

The secret to pattern work…?

That’s right, talcum powder!

Talcum powder is a great way to help map out and plan your designs before committing to them. If you’re not happy with your design, you can just brush it out and start again. It is best to shave out the area with a grade 2, no lower than a grade 1.

Cutting circles and curves are much trickier than straight lines. When using a trimmer, use the corner of the blade like it’s a pen/pencil whilst using small movements. Remember time is your best friend, do not rush! Start with thin lines, then you can add thickness to them as you go – you can’t add hair back!

Using a straight razor in a pattern makes it pop as well as the design lasting longer. Move slowly and stretch the skin, using the corner of the blade.
